Yea Cognac I do that at my parents house now. I go through and point out all the fallacies and complete contradiction in belief... then throw it back in the pile. It's especially easy now that they have the fake WT and the Awake is dumbed down as usual. This one though was just one of the worst ones I had ever seen. I think even if I were a worldly person I would have a good laugh, search the internet then pwn the next Witless that came to my door.

Has anyone read this? I was at my parents house over the weekend and wow what a dozy. I did my usual critique of it in ink pen and threw it in the "placement" pile. I have done this with a few WT and Awakes but this one took the cake by far. It was about "Is Their One True Religion" or something like that. Anyways it was talking about how you should be critical without being critical? WTF? Then it has a picture of a guy reading the bible and JW publication (I think) and it says something like, "true believers search for truth". I put on top of the caption "Watch out he is being critical! Stop him!". I imagine if some people on this board read it, it would make them puke.

Went to a JW "funeral" on Saturday
by Dorktacular inmy brother called me late on the 13th to let me know that a friend of ours - who is no longer a jw - called him and said that his dad was being flown by helicopter to the hospital because he collapsed at home and had no pulse.
they took my friend's dad off life support on valentine's day and he died.
well, i was debating whether or not to go to the funeral because i have no desire to hang around a bunch of jws or set foot in a kindumb hall again.

I always think back when my best friend at the time died. He was doing the fade and got in to an accident. Well they couldn't do the funeral at the Hall that would have been wrong. So instead an elder gave a talk at a funeral parlor. Of course it was the JW recruitment speech. My friends Mom was so disenfranchised by it she immediately stopped with the JW act. After the funeral she turned to me and mentioned how useless the whole thing was and that it didn't help one bit. I wanted to walk up to the elder and punch him in the face, except I think he knew the deal, he had this look of guilt on him. I'll never forget that.

Yes rednecks are the same no matter where you go...actually "redneck" was a slang against northerners. Me personally I have found Southern women to be some of the biggest bitches on the planet. Because of southern Gentleman they expect everything and the world. The problem with the south is that half the manners are fake and everyone knows it. A KKK guy will hold the door for a black guy then burn a cross in his yard that night. A young person will shoot the owner of a store in the face then apologize for getting blood on the owner's cash register. The women are no different, instead of just coming out and saying what they want they try to use that fake niceness and sex to manipulate you. Not saying every southern women is that way it just seems that a lot are. Most of the transplant Northern and Western women I meet are straight up about what they want.

What was it that "clicked" w/ you that this wasn't the "true religion"?
by cognac infor me, it was not being able to prove that people were going to be resurrected to earth... i'm still not sure of the answer, but for some reason that just started this huge, fast snowball of different things that i couldn't prove... .
this lightbulb just went off in my head... .

Cognac- For one, the U.N. was extremely damning. That was the first step, I could never get around that. Then when the child molestation issues happened it solidified it. I wasn't nervous to read C.O.C. really. I was actually quite ecstatic that I was getting it. I guess in my mind I had already made a decision that the WTS was corrupt and I wanted nothing to do with it. C.O.C. really just gave me the ammo I needed to actually profess that I wanted nothing to do with the org.

Would the Governing Body ever suggest ...
by sacolton inthat active spouses should leave their "non-believing" or "apostate" spouse?.
the reason i ask is that when i asked my wife if she would follow this doctrine should it ever be activated.
by the wtbts.

Yes the saddest part being that almost anything could include "spiritual endangerment". Just simply discussing the theology and why you might disagree could be construed as "spiritual endangerment" or a sly tool of Satan. I mean really would any Elder speak up if a sister or brother left an "apostate", for that reason?

WTBTS refuses to return 100,000 pound donation from DF man
by dozy inwatchtower society declines to return disputed 100,000 legacyby emilie filou, third sector, 13 february 2008 .
the charitable arm of the jehovah's witnesses should return a 100,000 legacy from a man it expelled for trying to convert call girls, one of the man's relatives has said.. martin davis said the watchtower society should return the money left to it by his cousin donald kennett so it could go to kennett's nephew, who is autistic.. accepting money from a member who had been expelled would damage the charity's reputation, said davis, of dulwich, south london.. kennett was befriended by a jehovah's witness in the 80s when recovering from a serious car crash and joined shortly afterwards, davis told third sector.
he was 'disfellowshipped' from his group in stockport in 2001 after members discovered that he was contacting call girls.. when kennett's mother died in 1994, she had left half her estate to him and half to his autistic nephew.

Gadget I believe the 100,000 pounds was the "half" of the estate left to him. Anyways I don't think anyone on this board is remotely shocked the WTS would keep funds from a DF'd guy.

I left after 9 years ...
by sacolton ini just disassociated myself after nine long years in the wtbts after researching the history of the wtbts and its founders and their lies, false prophecies and mind-control doctrines.
read my profile for more about that.
anyway, i'm glad there is a wonderful support group for those who have escaped the grasp of the wtbts and enjoy life again without the constant fear that the wtbts instills at every meeting.
